Tasty fresh raspberries

The month of June is bringing many of the summer fruit flavours and they are just waiting for us to enjoy them. At the same time we cannot wait for the weekend break and get away from the noisy city. Mircea, from Cycling Romania, is inviting you for a completely special bike trip proposal: one day cycling through quiet villages of Prahova and stopping for… raspberries picking. You may have tried to purchase this delicate fruits from the market, but it’s nothing comparing to picking them yourself. You will caress yourself with a real, 100% natural and tasteful experience.

We will meet in Floresti, in front of The Cantacuzino Palace ‘Micul Trianon’. It’s only 85 km away from Bucharest. 

If you are a beginner and you’re only thinking of a short bike trip, then you should come on Saturday, 2^nd, and meet us at 11:30 am. If you think you can handle some hill climbs on a bit longer bike tour, then the best is to meet on Sunday, 3^rd, at 11:30 am. Either way, we will enjoy a beautiful and flavoured cycling day.

What do we do

• we visit an old traditional manor, built about one century ago (it’s private property)
• we pick and taste the fresh raspberries from the manor’s courtyard
• we cycle through beautiful forest
• we talk to the locals, visit a typical rural household and have a picnic in the garden
• we check the ruins of The Cantacuzino Palace, in Floresti

What shall we have with us:

• bike (mountain bike or touring bike)
• helmet
• at least 1l of water
• rain coat / sun cream
• a small backpack
• smile upon the face

Price / person & what’s included:

90 RON* for guiding, technical assistance, activities and visits (raspberries picking, a surprise raspberry delicacy + visits: a traditional mansion, a typical rural household), lunch picnic in the garden + tasting local products, energizers, home made cookies

The group size limit is 10 persons

* Please be aware that a contribution to supporting the visited village households is included in the fee

How to reach Floresti

By car: After 80 km of driving from Bucharest to Ploiesti on E60 road, pass Baicoi, turn left and follow the signs towards Floresti. After 5 km you will reach the Cantacuzino Palace (‘Micul Trianon’), on the right side.

By train: Get the train A 1621 from Bucharest Main Station (10:30), or from Ploiesti Vest (11:16) and reach Floresti (11:29). The train has special wagon for bike transport. You will reach the meeting point in about 5 minutes from the train station, on the bike. If you choose to come by train please inform the organisers (see details below).
